Perrilloux: Drake sentences cases in Amite

AMITE ---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on August 24, 2009, before Judge Ernest Drake and either pleaded guilty or no contest or was found guilty of narcotic related offenses and received the following sentences:

Louis Charleston, Hammond, LA, age 27 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs.

Amanda Graham, Holden, LA, age 28 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for four years and ordered to pay court costs.

Charles Hogans, Hammond, LA, age 20 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs.

Raymond Rodriguez, Hammond, LA, age 23 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs.

Edward Varnado, Hammond, LA, age 30 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics. Sentencing set for September 15, 2009.

Asanti Wilson, Hammond, LA, age 20 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs.

Reginald Woods, Amite, LA, age 22 - Pleaded guilty to attempted possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve two and one-half (2 ½) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs.

The following individuals appeared and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of crimes against persons/property and received the following sentences:

Thomas Banks, Hammond, LA, age 29 - Pleaded guilty to domestic abuse battery (1st offense) and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $300.00 plus court costs.

Daniel Beverly, Baton Rouge, LA, age 24 - Pleaded no contest to cyberstalking. Sentencing set for October 14, 2009.

Calvin Brumfield, Tangipahoa, LA, age 40 - Pleaded no contest to vehicular homicide. Sentencing set for October 14, 2009.

Thommy Cao, Kentwood, LA, age 18 - Pleaded guilty to institutional vandalism, simple burglary and simple arson. Sentencing set for September 15, 2009.

Robert Chester, Kentwood, LA, age 20 - Pleaded guilty to institutional vandalism, simple burglary and simple arson. Sentencing set for September 15, 2009.

Rufus Copeland, Amite, LA, age 26 - Pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs.

Keith Delahoussaye, Robert, LA, age 51 - Pleaded no contest to sexual battery and was sentenced to serve twenty-five (25) years in the Department of Corrections.

Lawrence Jackson, Natalbany, LA, age 39 - Pleaded guilty to arson with intent to defraud and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.

Leonard Lunsford, Amite, LA, age 43 - Pleaded guilty to simple battery and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $400.00 plus court costs.

Brent Proctor, Covington, LA, age 23 - Pleaded no contest to cyberstalking. Sentencing set for October 14, 2009.

Jeremiah Sims, Kentwood, LA, age 20 - Pleaded guilty to institutional vandalism. Sentencing set for September 15, 2009.

Pamela Whittington, Ponchatoula, LA, age 39 - Pleaded guilty to forgery and bank fraud. Sentencing set for October 14, 2009.
