Perrilloux: Bennett sentences cases in Amite

AMITE---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on August 25, 2009, before Judge Bruce Bennett and either pleaded guilty or no contest or was found guilty of narcotic related offenses and received the following sentences:

Glen Brister, Hammond, LA, age 29 - Convicted of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics (2 counts) was present in court this day for sentencing and was sentenced to serve seven (7) years in the Department of Corrections on each count with sentences to be served concurrently.

William Parker, Hammond, LA, age 43 - Pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $150.00 plus court costs.

Vanessa Spears, Ponchatoula, LA, age 38 - Pleaded no contest to possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics. Imposition of sentence was deferred and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs and enroll in and complete drug court program.

The following individuals appeared and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of crimes against persons/property and received the following sentences:

Kenyatta Polite, Hammond, LA, age 17 - Pleaded no contest to armed robbery with a firearm (2 counts). Sentencing set for October 13, 2009.
