Perrilloux: Hughes sentences cases in Amite

AMITE---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on September 2nd or 3rd, 2009, before Judge Doug Hughes and either pleaded guilty or no contest or was found guilty of driving while intoxicated and received the following sentences:

Debra Billiot, Ponchatoula, LA, age 44 - Pleaded no contest to DWI (1st offense) and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail.

Daniel Cutrer, Amite, LA, age 24 - Pleaded no contest to DWI (1st offense) and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for two years with special conditions that the defendant complete 32 hours of community service work, complete a court-approved drivers improvement program and substance abuse program, attend a victims impact panel, and pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs.

Ruth Dillon, Ponchatoula, LA, age 44 - Pleaded no contest to DWI (1st offense) and aggravated flight from an officer and was sentenced to serve one (1) year in the Department of Corrections on the offense of aggravated flight from an officer and six (6) months in parish jail on the offense of DWI with sentences to be served concurrently. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for one year with special conditions that the defendant complete 32 hours of community service work, complete a court-approved drivers improvement program and substance abuse program, attend a victims impact panel, and pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs.

The following individuals appeared and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of crimes against persons/property and received the following sentences:

Clarence Banks, Independence, LA, age 41 - Pleaded no contest to aggravated flight from an officer, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest and was sentenced to serve one (1) year parish jail on the offense of aggravated flight from an officer; six (6) months in parish jail on the offense of battery on a police officer; and ninety (90) days in parish jail on the offense of resisting arrest with sentences to be served concurrently.

Christopher Foster, Kentwood, LA, age 26 - Pleaded no contest to criminal damage to property, unauthorized use of a movable, public intimidation, resisting arrest and simple assault and was sentenced to serve one (1) year in the Department of Corrections on the offenses of criminal damage to property, unauthorized use of a movable, public intimidation and sixty (60) days in parish jail on the offenses of resisting arrest and simple assault with sentences to be served concurrently. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for one year and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.

Desmond Henderson, Terrytown, LA, age 29 - Convicted of aggravated burglary was present in court for sentencing and was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the Department of Corrections.

Jeff McKinney, Hammond, LA, age 25 - Pleaded no contest to driving left of center, driving under suspension, illegal possession of stolen property (2 counts), simple burglary, aggravated flight from an officer, attempted simple burglary, and criminal damage to property and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections on the offenses of simple burglary and one count of illegal possession of stolen property with all but two years of sentence being suspended; five (5) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of attempted simple burglary; one (1) year in the Department of Corrections on the offense of aggravated flight from an officer; six (6) months in parish jail on the offenses of criminal damage to property and one count of illegal possession of stolen property; and thirty (30) days in parish jail on the offenses of driving left of center and driving under suspension. Defendant to serve a total of two years in the Department of Corrections with the balance of the total seven year sentence being suspended and the defendant being placed on active probation for five years upon release and ordered to make restitution.

Travois Moore, Amite, LA, age 23 - Pleaded no contest to theft and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.

Terrence Robson, Hammond, LA, age 30 - Pleaded no contest to theft and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of theft. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years and was ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.
