LIVINGSTON---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on September 8, 2009, before Judge Ernest Drake, and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of narcotic related offenses and received the following sentences:
Barney Childress, Mobile, AL, age 26 - Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana and was sentenced to serve thirty (30) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs.
Melissa Durning, Baton Rouge, LA, age 29 - Pleaded guilty to distribution of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the Department of Corrections. Defendant to serve two years without benefits and balance of jail sentence was suspended.
Mark Jones, Tickfaw, LA, age 42 - Pleaded guilty to creation/operation of a clandestine lab (2 counts) and was sentenced to serve thirty (30) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution for cost to clean-up toxic lab.
The following individuals appeared and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of crimes against persons/property and received the following sentences:
Kenny Ballard, Livingston, LA, age 18 - Pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.
Joshua Birchfield, Baton Rouge, LA, age 25 - Pleaded guilty to simple battery and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.00 plus court costs, complete anger management program and make restitution.
Ashley Jones, Denham Springs, LA, age 19 - Pleaded guilty to simple burglary and was sentenced to serve twelve (12) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs and restitution.
Edward W. Madison, Jr., Livingston, LA, age 17 - Pleaded guilty to auto burglary (3 counts) and was sentenced to serve twenty-four (24) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.
Coby Warren, Walker, LA, age 18 - Pleaded guilty to auto burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to serve twenty-four (24) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.
