Perrilloux: Ricks sentences cases in Livingston

LIVINGSTON---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on November 5, 2009 before Judge Brenda Bedsole Ricks, and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of driving while intoxicated and received the following sentences:

Jesse McCarty, Crossett, AR, age 25 - Pleaded no contest to DWI (1st offense), possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession of marijuana and trespassing and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of possession of Schedule IV narcotics; six (6) months in parish jail on the offense of DWI and possession of marijuana; and thirty (30) days I parish jail on the offense of trespassing with sentences to be served concurrently. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years with special conditions that the defendant complete 32 hours of community service work, complete a court-approved drivers improvement program and substance abuse program, attend a victims impact panel and pay a fine of $1,800.00 plus court costs.

The following individuals appeared in court and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of narcotic related offenses and received the following sentences:

Lonnie Cochennic, Holden, LA, age 32 - Pleaded guilty to creation/operation of a clandestine lab and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections.

Jason Herring, Denham Springs, LA, age 30 - Pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphanelia and child desertion. Sentencing set for November 30, 2009.

Cassandra Montgomery, Denham Springs, LA, age 25 - Pleaded guilty to possession of Schedule II narcotics and resisting an officer and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of possession of Schedule II narcotics and six (6) months in parish jail on the offense of resisting an officer with sentences to be served concurrently.

Bobby Sykes, Holden, LA, age 35 - Pleaded guilty to creation/operation of a clandestine lab (2 counts) and possession of Schedule II narcotics and was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the Department of Corrections on each count of creation/operation of a clandestine lab and five (5) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of possession of Schedule II narcotics with sentences to be served concurrently. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for five years and ordered into in-patient substance abuse treatment for one year.

The following individuals appeared in court and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of crimes against persons/property and received the following sentences:

James Birchfield, Denham Springs, LA, age 47 - Pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and was sentenced to serve ninety (90) days in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $100.00 plus court costs.

Roger Graham, Walker, LA, age 32 - Pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for one year and ordered to pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs and make restitution.

Sean Harris, Denham Springs, LA, age 22 - Pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide (2 counts) and was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the Department of Corrections with three years of sentence to be served without benefits and ordered to pay a fine of $2,000.00 plus court costs.

Gerald Long, Plaquemine, LA, age 27 - Pleaded guilty to simple battery and was sentenced to serve six (6) months in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on bench probation for one year and ordered to pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs and complete anger management program.

Timothy Miller, Tickfaw, LA, age 28 - Pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in the Department of Corrections. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $1,200.00 plus court costs.
