AMITE---District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux reports that the following individuals appeared in court on November 4, 2009, before Judge Elizabeth Wolfe, and either pleaded guilty or no contest or was found guilty of driving while intoxicated and received the following sentences:
Lester Evans, Hammond, LA, age 54 - Pleaded no contest to DWI (1st offense), attempted theft, simple burglary and theft under $300.00 (4 counts) and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in parish jail on the offense of simple burglary and six (6) months in parish jail on the offenses of DWI, attempted theft and theft with sentences to be served concurrently and the defendant ordered to make restitution.
The following individuals appeared in court and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of narcotic related offenses and received the following sentences:
Issac Anderson, Hammond, LA, age 36 - Pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana (2nd offense) and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in parish jail. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years and ordered to pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs.
Lamarcus Green, Ponchatoula, LA, age 20 - Pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana, simple burglary, resisting an officer and simple criminal damage to property (2 counts) and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in parish jail on the offense of simple burglary, one (1) year in parish jail on one count of simple criminal damage to property, and six (6) months in parish jail on one count of simple criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana and resisting an officer with sentences to be served concurrently.
Candise McCarroll, Albany, LA, age 37 - Pleaded no contest to possession of Schedule II narcotics and production/manufacturing of Schedule II narcotics (2 counts) and was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the Department of Corrections on each offense with sentences to be served concurrently.
Ashley Marceaux, Hammond, LA, age 25 - Pleaded no contest to possession of Schedule II narcotics and possession of marijuana and was sentenced to serve one (1) year in the Department of Corrections on the offense of possession of Schedule I narcotics and six (6) months in parish jail on the offense of possession of marijuana with sentences to be served concurrently. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for one year and ordered to pay a fine of $500.00 plus court costs.
Donald Varnado, Hammond, LA, age 35 - Pleaded no contest to possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics (2 counts), production/manufacturing of Schedule II narcotics, possession of Schedule IV narcotics (2 counts), possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics, possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics (2 counts) and possession of marijuana (3rd offense) and was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of production/manufacturing of Schedule II narcotics, five (5) years in the Department of Corrections on the each offense of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics, two (2) years in the Department of Corrections on the offense of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics, and one (1) year in the Department of Corrections on the offenses of possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics and possession of marijuana with sentences to be served concurrently.
The following individuals appeared in court and either pleaded guilty or no contest or were found guilty of crimes against persons/property and received the following sentences:
Wanda Hines, Hammond, LA, age 25 - Pleaded no contest to aggravated battery (2 counts), theft over $500.00 (2 counts) and bank fraud and was sentenced to serve two (2) years in parish jail on the offense of bank fraud and six (6) months in parish jail on the offenses of aggravated battery and theft over $500.00 with sentences to be served concurrently. Jail sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on active probation for two years and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution.
Tamanaca Thompson, Ponchatoula, LA, age 41 - Pleaded no contest to theft under $300.00 (4 counts) and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and was sentenced to serve one (1) year at hard labor in the Department of Corrections on the offense of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and six (6) months in parish jail on the offenses of theft under $300.00 with sentences to be served concurrently.
